Its designer, the engineer Vittorio JANO, before joining ALFA ROMEO in1923, had already participated in the design of FIAT racing cars which,at that time, were extremely successful. On joining Alfa Romeo, he wasentrusted with the studies for the ALFA ?2, a racing car which was to winall the Grand Prix in 1924 and 1925, after which he worked on the 6?-1500sports car with double overhead camshaft, and then on the 6c-1500 supersport with compressor. It was this last design which was used as a basisfor the famous 6c-I750cc which was to be mass produced between 1929and 1933 and in several versions. The success the ALFA ROMEO I750ccmet was due to the combination of many great strong points, its roadholding, its efficient braking, its supered and perfectly reliable engine andits streamlined elegant body owed to the talent of ZAGATO.
